LDG Z-817 20w tuner for FT-817

A very affordable automatic antenna tuning unit for HF and 6 meters that is ideal for QRP use. A perfect match with the FT-817ND but can also be used for other QRP stations. Just the right size and weight to take on the trip. The tuning unit is powered by battery, which minimizes the wiring. The Z-817 has 2000 memories that allow for lightning-fast tuning once you've tuned the current frequency/antenna.

The Z-817 comes with a short CAT cable that fits the FT-817 and is used for steering. With the CAT cable connected, only one press of the Z-817 is required to tune in.

Note that the Z-817 has both input and output for the FT-817 CAT connection. It is therefore possible to connect the Z-817 to the FT-817, and then connect the Z-817 to the computer (with separately sold cable) for control of the transceiver.

As a stand-alone reconciliation unit, it can be used for virtually all QRP transceivers. You then check by laying out the carrier and pressing Tune on the Z-817.

Note that for long wire a balun is needed as well. Suitable balun is RBA-1, available under accessories.
