Uputronics preamplifiers are compatible with most USB-based SDR receivers, such as RTL USB, Airspy, and Fun Cube. They can be powered either via Bias-Tee (this product is 100% compatible with the Airspy Bias-Tee) or via a standard USB-C cable (not included).
The Bias-Tee input voltage is 5 V.
This unit is a filter with a built-in preamplifier, designed to be installed between an antenna and a Software Defined Radio (SDR) receiver.
This specific model is designed for use in the 159–163 MHz frequency range. To block strong commercial FM signals, a high-pass filter is installed before the LNA.
The LNA provides at least 20 dB of gain at 161 MHz. To suppress out-of-band intermodulation, a 161 MHz SAW bandpass filter with a bandwidth of 7.6 MHz is also included.
The insertion loss of this filter is approximately 1.4 dB.
By combining a SAW bandpass filter with a low-noise amplifier (LNA), unwanted out-of-band signals are suppressed, reducing the risk of intermodulation while providing additional gain for improved receiver sensitivity.
In this design, the LNA is positioned before the SAW filter to reduce the overall noise figure.
High-quality SMA female connectors are used for both the antenna input and radio output. An LED indicator shows when the unit is powered and operating.
